Why was this paper chosen?

The topic area of this paper is one that will interest the many readers of WST who are concerned with water management.  Treatment of fracking wastewater is an issue that is becoming more important as mining of natural gas becomes more important.  Since the use of natural gas has been suggested as preferable to coal for climate change reasons, the mining of natural gas using fracking has increased leading issues with management of the resultant wastewater.  While this paper has a focus on the treatment of fracking wastewater and, therefore, should be of interest to readers of WST interested in wastewater treatment, it should also be of interest to readers of WST whose primary interest lie in other thematic areas.

James Ball, Editor.
