Why was this paper selected for Editor's Choice?

Removal of micropollutants including endocrine disrupting chemicals from wastewater is a hot topic in a number of countries worldwide. I have chosen this paper "Performance of ozone and peroxone on the removal of endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) coupled with cost analysis" as the Editor Choice paper for Water Science and Technology 82(4) presents a study from Turkey on removing endocrine disruptors from four different effluents. Besides municipal wastewater, it also looks at wastewaters from the textile and pharmaceutical industries and from an industrial area where various industries are investigated. The paper includes also an economic evaluation of the treatments applied, i.e. ozonation and peroxone oxidation. Overall, the paper is a nicely done study with high practical relevance.
