IWA Publishing Announces ‘Read & Publish’ Deal with the Austrian Academic Library Consortium (KEMÖ)

IWA Publishing and the Austrian Academic Library Consortium (KEMÖ) announce today the signing of a new 3 year transformative agreement granting all 58 KEMÖ institutions, including St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences, University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna, University of Innsbruck, University of Salzburg, University of Vienna, Graz University of Technology, TU Wien and University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna, full access to the IWA Publishing portfolio and unlimited Open Access publication.

Article Processing Charges (APCs) associated with accepted manuscripts are automatically waived for corresponding authors affiliated with any of the KEMÖ institutions. Eligible authors wishing to take advantage of the fee-waiver for OA publishing in IWA Publishing journals have only to submit their manuscript using their university e-mail address and including their institutional affiliation.

IWA Publishing is excited to collaborate with consortia such as KEMÖ who are willing to forge new paths with society publishers towards a more Open Access future.

Rita Pinhasi, Librarian, Consortia Management at University of Vienna says:

“We are delighted to have concluded this transformative agreement with IWA Publishing which joins our growing portfolio of open access contracts. Our experience demonstrates that we are ready to work with smaller publishers on developing truly innovative agreements and thus taking further steps towards opening up research to all.”

Melanie Stummvoll, Head Office of Kooperation E-Medien Österreich says:

“This agreement is yet another important step in the direction of Open Access. It is one of the building blocks that will open the way towards a reality where equitable access to knowledge is common practice.”

Sara Bosshart, Open Access Publisher at IWA Publishing says:

“We are thrilled to announce this innovative deal granting access and publication rights to researchers across Austria and showcasing the potential of collaborations between consortia and smaller society publishers.”
