Why is Hydrology Research important to the field?

Water is fascinating and Hydrology Research nicely covers the entire breadth of hydrology. To me Hydrology Research, formerly Nordic Hydrology, is still a journal for the hydrology of Northern regions and actually some of the most interesting papers in recent years dealt with hydrology in Scandinavian catchments. Today, however, the journal also covers research from all over the world.

What ongoing/upcoming trend or development do you think will be a game changer for the field?

There are many promising developments in hydrology such as new observation technologies, large sample studies – thanks to more openly available data sets – and citizen science approaches.

What would you say is the most rewarding thing about working on the journal?

It is most rewarding to see a good manuscript become even better during the review process. It is really satisfying when an author gives thanks for valuable feedback.
